During Summer 2018, the Trust is working with property partners and housing associations to provide new supported living projects in the South East for people with autism and complex needs.
Individuals will have a tenancy with a housing association. As care provider, the Disabilities Trust will support people to access the community, develop independent living skills such as cooking, shopping, money management, etc and engage in activities and interest groups that are important to them.
Our Haywards Heath supported living project is designed for people with autism, complex needs and challenging behaviour who require waking nights and one to one support throughout the day. The house is shared between four people and has a large communal kitchen/diner, separate lounge, utility room and a conservatory. We have a rare vacancy, and can offer a single en-suite room which will be available in August.
All the people we support will have their own personalised support plan that focuses on their needs and interests and will explain how staff provide support in line with this.
The support we provide will follow the Positive Behavioural Support model, and be overseen by an experienced Registered Manager and the Trust’s in-house Autism & Positive Behavioural Support Practitioner, Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Psychologist, who are based within the local area.
